Live event hosting in Pierson.
The fern capital of the world, at the junction of US-17 and State Road 40. An agricultural town whose working day, and whose language, are its own.
Why Pierson venues work with us
Pierson is an agricultural town in the far northwest of Volusia County, at the crossing of US-17 and State Road 40, and it has a claim no other city we serve can make: it grows most of the cut leatherleaf fern used in floral arrangements in the United States. That industry, not tourism or commuting, is what fills and empties the town’s few restaurants. Fern is harvested year round, and the working day starts early and ends early, which puts the available evening well before the hours a coastal bar would consider prime.
It is also a largely bilingual town, with a substantial Spanish-speaking community tied to the fern industry. A hosted night here that runs entirely in English is talking to part of the room. We can run a bilingual format, with the questions and the host working in both languages, and in a town this size that is the difference between a night that half the town can play and one the whole town can.
What we know about Pierson
Most of the leatherleaf fern grown in the United States comes from here. The harvest day starts and ends early, which moves the town’s usable evening earlier than anywhere else we cover.
A large Spanish-speaking community works in and around the fern industry. We can run the questions and the hosting in both languages, which in a town this size decides who can actually play.
US-17 and State Road 40 meet here and carry traffic between DeLand, Ocala, and the St. Johns. The handful of rooms sit on that junction rather than along a commercial corridor.
Getting to Pierson
About forty-five minutes from our Daytona Beach base. We reach Pierson on the northwest leg of the DeLand run, which is what makes a booking in a town this small affordable to staff.
